Every once in a while, a food event comes along that reminds you why Toronto’s culinary scene is one of the most exciting in the country. For me, The Delicious Food Show 2014 was that moment.
Held at the Direct Energy Centre, the weekend was packed with top-tier chefs, swoon-worthy food styling, and booth after booth of gourmet bites I still think about. But let’s be real—there was one unforgettable standout that stole my heart (and my sweet tooth): Holy Cannoli.
I remember being drawn in by the aroma first—crispy shells, creamy ricotta, powdered sugar in the air—it felt like walking into a little slice of Sicily. The Holy Cannoli team was buzzing, piping fresh cannoli on the spot while smiling locals lined up in droves. I tried the pistachio one... then the chocolate hazelnut... and may or may not have gone back for a third.
Between celebrity demos (hello, Chuck Hughes and Nadia G!) and sipping wine from local vineyards, it was the humble cannoli that left the most lasting impression. It wasn’t just a dessert—it was a bite of tradition, family, and joy.
As someone who spends her days chasing the best hidden gems in the city, this wasn’t just a food show highlight—it was a “where have you been all my life?” moment.
Since then, Holy Cannoli has become a staple in my foodie adventures across Toronto. And if you haven’t tried them yet, do yourself a favour: don’t walk—run.
Until the next delicious event,
xo – April
